Create your own background page on plain cardstock with any combination of the following:
Gesso, Gel, Modelling Paste, sprays, inks, paints, stencils stamps…Go wild. Then create a layout on it!
Now I am not a huge mixed media person, I like it but I also love using papers so I knew this was gonna be a challenge.
I started off the process by cutting up some cardstock into 6x6 pieces so I could test a few things before committing myself. I started with painting a page with Gesso as I thought I should do this for a change, tho I didn't really know what for haha! I thought the idea was to create a stable base for paints and inks to go on and I think I am mostly right but what was pretty cool about it was it looked a bit like wood grain when it was streaky so decided that this would be my base over top of my grey cardstock. I tried to get arty and make knots in the 'wood' but hmmm a. I shouldn't have bothered as they mostly ended up covered and b. I don't think it added anything to the page anyway.
