Here is my layout, I chose a photo of my son playing with his new basketball hoop he got for his birthday this year.
I really wanted to use a circle in the page, to emphasise the ball being thrown through the air, plus I loooove circles on layouts! I went through a phase of always having circles but haven't for a while so definitely time to use one :-) So I cut a circle out of My Boy, I especially liked that it is orange, just like a basket ball.
The other thing I wanted to use was lots of flags going across the page, for no real reason other than I thought it would look nice and as I started to put things together I realised it made it look as if the ball was rushing through the air....so I was quite pleased with this! Maybe it looks a bit like a meteorite but that is something round going pretty fast so lets not nit pick! The flags were cut from Plaid, Controllers, Boy Stripes, Boy dots and My boy. I also really liked the kraft ticket page Admit One and could have used lots of these but restricted myself to just one ticket! I am sure that this page will get quickly used up in all sorts of projects.
I love love love the 3x4 and 4x6 elements on You Rock and Adventure and can't wait to pocket page my Son's 4th birthday party with these. However I did sneak one for this page, how could I resist the game on! My journaling is hidden behind the photo.
There are heaps of really cool stickers in the collection as well. I used lots of the arrows on this page, as well as some of the phrases. But there are rockets, a plane a bike, and lots and lots of balls. I was going to use the basketball sticker, I still almost can't believe I didn't, but I had a really cool wood veneer basketball that I really wanted to use so it took pride of place...I coloured it with a pen to give it a two tone effect like the one in the photo.
I decided to ink around all the papers to give some extra definition with the bold prints and I decided to doodle about the page as well as the kraft felt a little bare, I decided on arrows to fit in with the other arrows. I also double matted the photo to make it stand out. Originally the photo was a matte photo but I found the gloss worked a heck of a lot better with this paper, much more vibrant so it is worth thinking about what to use.
